I can't come to Seattle; how can I participate?

We’re so glad you asked! We have two ways people can participate if they can’t make it to Seattle. Please see this link for more information.

What is the deadline for registration?

Early bird prices for both the conference and the dinner end on May 10.

All registration ends on June 5. There may be a limited number of conference tickets at the door. No Gala Dinner tickets are available at the door.

I will be flying in. How do I get from the airport to the hotel?

The DoubleTree offers complimentary shuttle service to and from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. From 4:00 am to 10:00 pm, the shuttle leaves the hotel on the hour and half-hour. Between 10:30 pm and 4:00 am, contact the Front Desk for transportation. Guests should call us when they arrive at the waiting areas at Island # 1 or Island # 3 only. This is located one floor above baggage claim, cross over the sky bridge, and go down one floor to floor # 3. Then call us from the island. Return shuttles scheduled with front desk. Important note: Be sure to get on the smaller shuttle van for the DoubleTree at Southcenter and not the large buses for the DoubleTree at the airport. Our shuttles are large white vans with a large brown stipe down the side of the van .

Are there other hotels I can stay at, rather than the conference hotel?

Of course! There are plenty of hotels in the greater Seattle area and we recommend using your favorite online booking source for these hotels.

What is the hotel cancellation and refund policy?

Please cancel more than 48 hours before your arrival to avoid any hotel charges.

What is the cancellation and refund policy for the conference & dinner ?

You may cancel your registration for a full refund, minus a $35 processing fee, before May 1.

Cancellations May 1 – 31 will be refunded 50%.

No cancellations or refunds will be offered after May 31.

All refunds will be processed within 30 days of the end of the event.

I need a special diet. Can this be accommodated?

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate special diets. We are mindful of offering gluten free and vegetarian options in our catering selections, but if you have highly specialized needs, please plan accordingly.

Will there be a bar at the dinner?

A no-host bar will be available for your celebratory drink needs.

What happens to the proceeds from this event?

The intent for the events of the weekend are to be revenue neutral. This isn’t intended to be a source of income for Penny Simkin, Penny Simkin, Inc., or its employees.

Any proceeds that remain after all expenses have been paid will be donated to Penny’s favorite non-profit organizations, Open Arms Perinatal Services, the Simkin Center for Allied Birth Vocations at Bastyr University Leadership Fund, and DONA International.
